We've spent the past few afternoons at the Flower Festival, eating international foods, watching the parades, and one of our main goals every day: THE BOUNCY CASTLE. It's free and the lines usually aren't very long. Jolon has loved doing it and Kellan has enjoyed just watching Jolon jumping, which is not unusual----Kellan enjoys watching Jolon do anything. Last night we watched some Brazilian dancing on a stage and then had dinner in Peace Park. Jan and I had Thai noodles, Indian fried bean pastries, Korean pancakes and Japanese rice cakes. Jolon and Kellan had Laotian curry, and some fried bread from a Hokkaido (northern Japan) food stall. In the afternoon we went with Auntie Erin to make some peace candles. We colored and drew on special papers which go around the candles. The messages on the candles are generally anti-war and peace messages, and they're set out and lighted in the evening. As we were walking home and looking at all of them, we half-jokingly remarked that it would be a miracle to find the ones we had made earlier in the day. A minute later I found the ones we had done. Amazing....there were at least a couple of thousand candles in the park last night.
