A few days after we came back from the States Jolon and Jan were walking by the pachinko parlor.
Jolon: Can we go inside?
Jan: No.
Jolon: What are they doing?
Jan: Playing a game. (he quickly realized he needed to downplay the word, "game.") It's a game, but it's really boring.
Jolon: Then why are all those people inside?
Jan: Well...(not meaning to be snobby; just trying to get out of the conversation) a lot of those people are kind of lonely and sad.
Jolon: Did you go in there while we were in America?
