Jan was taking the boys to school the other day and when they got close to the building, Jolon saw his good friend, Yura. Yura was walking with his Mom and carrying a piece of wood. It's important to understand that when Nakayoshi (school) boys, Jolon's age, meet each other, the accepted greeting is to affectionately punch/bearhug the other boy or fling insults. Jolon, eyeing the piece of wood, and trying to come up with a funny/insulting line.....yelled (in Japanese), "Hey Yura. You're a..........BAKER."
Yura's Mom burst out laughing.
Jan guesses that the piece of wood looked like a piece of bread to Jolon, and that was the best he could come up with at that moment.

Great story--I just picture Jolon being such a fun and funny little guy that he is a favorite of his classmates...I am sure that is true and not just a Grammy speaking!!
