latest

Jolon got his first blue card pulled at school. Every afternoon I pick him up and ask if he went green (meaning the teacher never had to get on to him for doing something wrong). Every day he says yes, until one day a couple of weeks ago he calmly announced that he had to lose his green card and take a blue one. I was shocked and tried not to yell, "Why???? What in the world did you do?" Turns out he was hiding in the coats at the end of day and yelled out while trying to scare his good friend, Derek, who then also screamed. So it wasn't so bad and he's gotten all green cards since then. I was actually really proud of him for being truthful with us and also not taking it too hard. I think he realized that he deserved to get a blue and was ok with it.

Kellan is the oldest in his class of 8 and his teachers keep bragging on him. He pays attention well, knows when to stop goofing off, and enjoys doing the "academic" activities as well as the toys and games. Apparently he saves all of his whining for us at home. He and Jolon both are obsessed with all things Star Wars and he's starting to really make things out of the "big boy legos." He's growing up quickly but still has such a cute baby face and we still haven't cut his hair.

Esme is still nursing at least twice a day and in the middle of the night will sometimes ask for "nyu nyu," and if I say no, she's started begging, "peas" (please!"). She's stringing two words together. "Daddy, no," or "Mommy, dat." She loves to point and say, "dat," until we finally pick up the thing she wants. She calls Kellan, "Ke Ke," and Jolon, "Jo Jo," or "Sho Sho." She eats everything the boys do. Likes rice better than bread, apples more than oranges, butter and jelly more than peanut butter and jelly. Loves cottage cheese and yogurt just like me; camembert and marmite just like Jan.
